SAP is one among the key parts in sanitary napkins, baby diapers, under-pads and adult diapers
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has created a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) technology demonstration plant of two hundred weight unit once a year at the Kochi works. Exploitation the in-house carboxylic acid as feedstock, SAP technology is employed in varied hygiene product like diapers and alternative incontinence product.
BPCL R&D team has developed the technology for production of hygiene grade SAP.SAP is made exploitation the carboxylic acid that is factory-made at the new gas Derivatives organic compound complicated at Kochi works.
The technology, piping and instrumentation diagram, detail engineering and instrumentation specification were all in-house developed together by company analysis & Development Centre (CRDC) and Kochi works team. No external agency was engaged within the project.
Both chemical action reactor and also the drying units were shifted from BPCL’s company analysis & Development Centre at Noida. Alternative units like feed preparation unit, milling, coating and packing units were indigenously built and procured by the project team. The project was completed in barely seven months.
SAP applications
SAP could be a compound that may absorb and retain extraordinarily massive amounts of a liquid relative to its own mass. Therefore, it's one among the key parts in sanitary napkins, baby diapers, under-pads and adult diapers.
Presently, producing units of those product in Asian nation square measure mercantilism SAP. Profusion of napkins, diapers and under-pads are being foreign. Commencement of production of SAP at Kochi works may end in fixing of adjunct industries supported SAP within the section as well as at the KINFRA’s new Ambalamugal Petro Chemical Park.
