Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has created a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) technology demonstration plant of two hundred weight unit once a year at the Kochi works. Exploitation the in-house carboxylic acid as feedstock, SAP technology is employed in varied hygiene product like diapers and alternative incontinence product.
BPCL R&D team has developed the technology for production of hygiene grade SAP.SAP is made exploitation the carboxylic acid that is factory-made at the new gas Derivatives organic compound complicated at Kochi works.
The technology, piping and instrumentation diagram, detail engineering and instrumentation specification were all in-house developed together by company analysis & Development Centre (CRDC) and Kochi works team. No external agency was engaged within the project.
Both chemical action reactor and also the drying units were shifted from BPCL’s company analysis & Development Centre at Noida. Alternative units like feed preparation unit, milling, coating and packing units were indigenously built and procured by the project team. The project was completed in barely seven months.
